This long‑established family compound sits on a private island in a pristine and unspoiled part of Georgian Bay, surrounded by Crown islands and offering exceptional privacy south of Killarney near Key Harbour. With multiple cottages, a bunkie, and a 600 sq ft log structure underway, the property functions as a true generational retreat with expansive views, excellent swimming, and direct access to one of the most scenic boating regions in Ontario.
The Property
The main cottage features an 820 sq ft great room combining living, dining, and kitchen areas anchored by a zero‑clearance glass‑door fireplace. A propane wall furnace provides additional heat. Two bedrooms each include adjoining three‑piece bathrooms. Walkouts from the great room open to wraparound decks capturing sunrises to the east, sunsets to the west, and all‑day views across the Bay.
The open‑concept guest cabin includes one queen bed, two twin beds, a kitchenette, a three‑piece bath with shower, and an airtight wood stove. Its east‑facing deck is positioned for sunrise views. The sleeping bunkie accommodates two single beds and includes running water and a sink. A 600 sq ft log structure is currently under construction.
The Land and Water
The island is relatively flat and easily walkable, with smooth “barefoot” granite that slopes gently to the shoreline, allowing swimming access from nearly any point. The sheltered western side offers a protected deep‑water harbour and mooring suitable for boats and floatplanes. The surrounding region is known for superb swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and exceptional fishing, with the Bustard Islands, Baie Fine, the North Channel, Killarney, and the Cloche Mountains nearby.
Access and Utilities
Access is available by boat from Key River Marina or by floatplane. The island is fully off‑grid, powered by solar and propane with three backup generators. Cell service is excellent, while internet would benefit from a booster or satellite system. Additional cabins could be approved due to the island’s size.
The Lifestyle
With multiple dwellings, expansive decks, protected harbour access, and panoramic views, the island is well suited for family gatherings, multi‑generational use, or a fly‑in retreat. Its off‑grid systems, natural granite terrain, and proximity to world‑class boating and fishing make it a rare offering in one of Georgian Bay’s most scenic and storied regions.
