Bloomfield Wilderness Lodge comprises 7.16 acres of freehold land up to the high‑water mark in an unspoilt region of Far North Queensland. Positioned between the World Heritage–listed Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, the lodge occupies one of the only locations on earth where two World Heritage sites meet. Its setting offers uninterrupted natural surroundings, pristine water frontage, and access to some of Australia’s most diverse plant, animal, and marine life.
The Property
Established in 1990, the lodge offers luxury eco‑style accommodation and has received multiple awards, including Forbes Magazine’s “World’s Best Remote Hotel” and Wildforests’ “2013 Best Ecolodge.” The resort includes 17–19 suites, a fitness centre, library, swimming pool, restaurant, bar, commercial kitchen and catering facilities, staff accommodation, and a private extended jetty. The current owners, Trailfinders Ltd (UK), are open to selling the freehold or leasing the property on favourable terms.
Constructed from locally sourced timber, the lodge was designed to blend with its environment. Extensive renovations over the past two years have improved the property while it remained closed. Water facilities include approximately 430,000 litres of storage for filtered stream water and rainwater. Three diesel generators provide electricity, and high‑speed 4G WiFi is available throughout. The property also includes a private helipad, with the option to lease Mt Louis’s airstrip.
The Land and Water
The lodge offers over 650 m² of pristine water frontage with uninterrupted views. Its surroundings include rainforest rivers, mangrove systems, offshore tropical waters, and abundant wildlife. Originally operating as a fishing lodge, the property remains well positioned for sports fishing and exploration of the surrounding ecosystems.
Access and Utilities
Bloomfield Wilderness Lodge is accessible only by boat or air, ensuring privacy and exclusivity. The property is located near the township of Ayton (Bloomfield), approximately 120 km north of Port Douglas and 180 km from Cairns and the Cairns International Airport. Cooktown lies 60 km north of Ayton, providing commercial services to the region. Utilities include diesel‑powered electricity, high‑speed 4G WiFi, and extensive water storage.
The Lifestyle
Bloomfield Wilderness Lodge offers a secluded retreat environment surrounded by rainforest, coral reefs, and diverse wildlife. Its eco‑style accommodation, natural setting, and proximity to both the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef support a nature‑focused lifestyle suited to private use or continued resort operations. With its infrastructure, award‑winning history, and exclusive access, the property presents a rare opportunity for operators or investors seeking a remote luxury destination in Far North Queensland.
