Overview

Porer Lighthouse was built in 1833 on the islet of the same name, southwest of Istria's southernmost cape. The islet is an 80-meter cliff, 2.5 km from the mainland and the small town of Premantura.

Location and Accessibility

The islet is 2.5 km from Premantura, easily reached by a return transfer organized by Captain Ivan Giotta. The transfer is charged an extra 100 EUR per apartment and takes 25 to 35 minutes depending on weather conditions.

Accommodations

The 35-meter lighthouse tower overlooks the rest of the stone building. This ground-floor building with a concrete yard has two four-bed apartments:

• Apartment A2: Approx. 42 m², two double rooms (10 and 14 m²), kitchen (15 m²), shower-WC (3 m²).

• Apartment A1: Approx. 45 m², one double room (19 m²), one room with a bunk bed (7 m²), kitchen (13 m²), shower-WC (4 m²).

Beach

We recommend swimming at docking places due to the strong currents around the islet. The lighthouse keeper can guide you to the best swimming places at different times of the day. Only experienced surfers should attempt windsurfing due to the very strong winds.

Transfer

Return transfer is organized from Premantura by Captain Ivan Giotta for an additional 100 EUR per apartment. The boat transfer takes 25 to 35 minutes, depending on weather conditions. It is recommended to arrange the time of departure and return one day in advance with the person responsible for the transfer.

Supplies can be arranged at an additional cost with Mr. Giotta.

Activities

The islet offers a magnificent walk around its perimeter, which takes just over a minute, with sunsets considered to be the most beautiful on the Adriatic. Trips to the island of Unije, known for its fabulous bays, or to the city of Pula can be arranged with Mr. Giotta.

Additional Information

• Nature Reserve Visit: Before or after your stay on Porer, visit the nature reserve at Cape of Kamenjak, home to 530 species of flora, including 20 orchid species.

• Historical Significance: The sandy seabed around Porer hides many ancient artifacts and shipwrecks, making it a unique site for exploration.
