Have you ever dreamed of washing up on a deserted island? Wouldn't it be great if the island already had a cool cabana, a restaurant and a bar to serve you? You can still go out and catch your own conch, lobster or fish. The family that lives on this island paradise can clean it and cook it for you while you sit in a hammock enjoying a rum punch. They make sure you will always remember the experience.
Hideaway Caye is located at the southern end of the South Water Caye Marine Reserve. It is the biggest marine reserve in Belize and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The marine life around Hideaway Caye is pristine and untouched. You can spend days exploring neighboring reefs snorkeling and kayaking. If you love nature watching you can spot Dolphins, Manatees and Sea turtles. There is also some of the best bird watching right on the island including nesting Osprey, almost every type of Heron, Warblers and even the elusive Humming Bee (the world's smallest hummingbird).
Hideaway Caye has only one cabana. Rest assured you will be the only guests staying on the island. The cabana is set back in the mangroves for ultimate privacy. The large veranda has a double hammock and mahogany chairs for your star gazing enjoyment. The inside of the cabana features floor to ceiling windows for the ultimate Caribbean breeze. There is a queen size bed and a futon. The cabana is a single room stand alone house for two guests but can accomodate up to 4 guests snuggly if needed (USD 100.00 per extra person applies).
The island's restaurant and bar is an open air thatched building which is open to public for lunch and dinner. You can sit back and relax with a local beer or the best rum punch for miles. The menu changes daily based on what the sea provides. As a guest on Hideaway Caye your meals are included with your stay. Please advise in advance about any food allergies.

Included in the stay: Your transport to and from the island, 3 meals a day, unlimited use of the snorkel gear, kayaks and paddleboards, Belize Tourism Board 9% occupancy tax and $5 a day per person marine reserve fee. Alcoholic beverages and sodas are an additional charge.
Getting to the island: From Belize International Airport you can fly (Tropic or Maya Airlines) to Dangregia. From Dangregia it is a 45 minute taxi ride to Sittee River Marina where you would be picked up around noon. The pick up time can vary a bit depending on weather conditions and reservations schedule. The wind usually picks up in the afternoon making the trip a bit bumpy. If the noon pick-up doesn't work for you, it is recommended that you stay your first night in Hopkins Village to relax after your long day of travel. Hopkins is just 5 minutes from Sittee River Marina.
Recommended duration of stay: Most people don't think 2 days is long enough to decompress and unplug. Three to four days is just right to snorkel and kayak around the neighboring reefs.
All you need to bring is your bathing suit, sunblock (preferable reef safe), water shoes, a beach towel and your sense of adventure. This is a truely off the grid experience with solar and wind power. Sit back and relax and listen to the waves lapping over the mangrove roots.
