Travel Options

You have the travel options of arriving by Land Vehicle, Boat, Helicopter or Float Plane – thanks to Sunset Island’s location on Sproat Lake, its large open areas on the lawn, water in the Bay by the docks and it’s own private bridge. Providing vacation island exclusivity indeed!

The title speaks for itself! Surrounded by majestic mountains on Sproat Lake (Taylor Arm), aqua marine coloured water in the private bays is so clear you can see right to the bottom of the lake. This is such a private area of the lake that you could forget to bring your bathing suit.

Landscape

The landscape of this island is of dynamic contrast: sand and pebble beaches; mossy beds; craggy cliffs; fresh, clear mountain lake water; tall, sky high old growth trees more than 500 years old.

Protecting the nature ecosystem of the Island is high on the owners agenda, with a strong commitment to sustainable development and a massive respect for the environment. Conscious development practices protect its natural beauty while making a minimal impact on the environment. Though once undeveloped and uninhabited it is now kissed with human inhabitants.

Natures Foot Print

Living with nature has been a mantra on the island from day one of development. All accommodations and structures are constructed from timber harvested and milled from the island. No drywall here!

Drinking water is piped in from a nearby waterfall high atop the mountain range providing the island with the most pure and unlimited natural drinking water.
OFF THE GRID: The power comes from a run-of-the-river water turbine, which is explained in more detail below in ‘POWER SYSTEM DESIGN’

The waste water is pumped to a professionally installed and approved septic field system which is deep under ground through the old growth forest and is nourishment to the old growth trees.
