Turneffe Islands is an atoll, and is the largest of Belize’s three atolls and the closest in distance from Belize City, located about 15 miles east of the city. Only a few hundred yards from the reef, Turneffe offers world class fishing, diving, and snorkeling. Turneffe Flat Resort, and Blackbird Resort to the south are 15 and 20 minutes away respectively. Turneffe Lagoon is about one mile to the south of this property. The Cayes of Belize, including the Turneffe Islands, are generally islands of low relief, being but a few feet above sea level. The emergent part of the islands are usually coral sand with local accumulations of ragged coral rock rubble. The windward coast often has a sandy beach; the leeward shore is usually shallow for a long way out, with accumulations of mud, fine sand and organic matter and supporting mangrove forest.
