Joe Cay is a secluded 30‑acre private island located just south of Stranger’s Cay in the northern Abaco Cays. Positioned 24 miles east‑southeast of Walker’s Cay and 34 miles west‑northwest of Spanish Cay—both with airstrips—the island offers a quiet retreat surrounded by white sand beaches, turquoise water, and natural tropical vegetation.
The Property
The island includes elevations up to 15 feet above sea level, moderate anchorage, and two beaches described in The Yachtsman’s Guide to the Bahamas (2005) as being protected by shallow white sand banks with deep channels through and around them. The cay measures approximately 2,000 feet in length and 1,000 feet in width. The main lee‑side beach on the southeastern shore features a medium‑sized sand spit extending into shallow sandy waters. Total beach frontage is about 1,500 feet, with widths reaching up to 45 feet at low tide.
The Land and Water
Joe Cay offers white sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, and tropical vegetation. The surrounding area supports swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and diving. The island’s shoreline includes sandy and shallow areas suitable for wading.
Access and Utilities
The island is located near Walker’s Cay and Spanish Cay, both of which have airstrips.
The Lifestyle
The island supports a quiet, nature‑focused environment suited to family retreats or private vacation use. With its beaches, clear water, and natural landscape, the property offers a secluded setting for outdoor recreation. A small marina could be developed on the eastern end by dredging a canal and constructing a breakwater.
