Victory Island is a 12–13‑acre private island located in Jervis Inlet on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. As one of the largest and most well‑appointed private islands currently available in the region, it offers a rare combination of natural solitude, expansive acreage, and modern conveniences. Its position along the inlet provides a quiet setting surrounded by coastal forest, warm summer swimming waters, and long views across a protected bay.
The Property
The island’s 1,340‑square‑foot cottage was designed by B. Gordon Hlynsky Architect of West Vancouver and is fully permitted, professionally constructed, and engineered. The open‑plan layout includes two large bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, dining room, and bathroom, with all rooms oriented toward surrounding views. Hot water is supplied by an on‑demand Bosch system, and all appliances operate on propane delivered by the Tyee Titan landing craft, which services residents in the area.
A southerly exposed wraparound deck extends over the calm, weather‑protected bay, providing sun exposure from morning to evening. The island also includes three additional cabins with sleeping accommodations, each with its own bathroom.
A professionally engineered utility building houses solar storage batteries, water‑system components, and LED lighting infrastructure. A deep 350‑foot well supplies water year‑round, feeding two secure holding tanks that gravity‑deliver water to the home. A large biofuel generator is available as backup power, though it is rarely required. Satellite TV and internet are available.
The Land and Water
Victory Island features hemlock, cedar, Douglas fir, and more than 200 arbutus trees. The shoreline includes warm summer swimming areas and views across the inlet. The island’s waters support spot prawns within minutes of the dock, along with salmon fishing nearby. Naturally established oyster and clam beds are also present. Orca and humpback whales are frequently seen from the deck.
The dock system is fully permitted and professionally engineered with concrete floats. It can accommodate a helicopter and safely moor vessels over 70 feet, with additional moorage space available. A 6‑foot‑wide alloy ramp provides wheelchair‑accessible access and supports cargo transport.
Access and Utilities
Victory Island is located northwest of Hardy Island and across from the Saltery Bay BC Ferry Terminal, approximately a five‑minute boat trip for guest arrivals. Parking is available near the public dock at Saltery Bay, with a 20‑minute drive to Powell River for provisions and services. Access is also available by floatplane from Vancouver Harbour or Richmond, or by water taxi or private boat.
The Lifestyle
The island supports a retreat‑style lifestyle with a blend of natural forest, protected waters, and modern infrastructure. Its cottage, cabins, engineered utilities, and extensive dock facilities allow for comfortable year‑round enjoyment. With fishing, shellfish harvesting, warm‑water swimming, and regular whale sightings, Victory Island offers a setting suited to both quiet relaxation and outdoor recreation. Its location along a favoured Pacific Northwest route also brings occasional views of passing vessels, adding to the sense of connection to the broader coastal landscape.
